In the meantime, there's more about how we work with children and teenagers on our website.

How we help

When something feels harder for your child than it should, it's hard to know what to do next. We see children and teens for anxiety, school can't, big emotions, friendship worries, low confidence and the stress that comes with a new school or changes at home.

Our approach is neuro-affirming. We work with how your child thinks and learns rather than trying to change who they are, and many of the young people we see are autistic or have ADHD.

Your child sees the same psychologist every time, so trust builds and sessions pick up where they left off. We work with you as parents too, and where it helps we talk with your child's school.

What we help with

  • Anxiety or persistent worries
  • Separation anxiety, particularly when starting kindergarten or at a new school
  • School can't (school refusal) or distress about attending school
  • Difficulty managing strong emotions
  • Friendship or social differences
  • Low confidence or self-esteem
  • Behavioural differences at home or school
  • Stress during life transitions, such as school changes or family adjustments

What happens at your first appointment

You get in touch

Olivia and Georgia on reception talk through what's going on and match you with the psychologist best suited to your child and your preferred times.

A parent only first appointment

You meet your child's psychologist, talk freely about your concerns, hear what sessions will involve and set some early goals.

Your child's first session

The focus is on getting comfortable, understanding what sessions are about and setting goals together.

Regular sessions

Fifty minutes each, usually with a parent check in at the start and five to ten minutes of feedback at the end. There's no set number. You and the psychologist decide together when to finish.

Here's the friendly team you'll be working with

Things parents ask us before they book

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book with us directly. A referral from your GP or paediatrician under a Mental Health Care Plan gives you a Medicare rebate on sessions.

How long is each session?

Fifty minutes.

Can I choose my psychologist?

You're welcome to ask for someone. Otherwise our admin team know the psychologists well and will match you on suitability and the times you can do.

Will my child see the same psychologist each time?

Yes. Once you've started with a psychologist, your child keeps seeing them. That's how trust builds.

What ages do you work with?

From about three years old through to young adults. With younger children, parent sessions are part of it.

Do you work with autistic children or children with ADHD?

Yes. Many of the young people we see have a diagnosis of autism or ADHD.

Can you talk to my child's school?

Yes. We have good relationships with many local schools and work with them as closely as you'd like.
